Claude AI developer Anthropic is kicking off a new plan aimed at helping large businesses take advantage of generative AI. Known as Claude Enterprise, the new plan offers several features designed to integrate Claude across different departments and job roles.

First up, the enterprise plan provides a 500,000 context window, more than double the 200,000 used by the consumer versions of Claude. For AI, the size of the context window determines how much information the chatbot can hold and remember. The greater the size, the more conversational data the AI can juggle. Anthropic called the 500,000 windows equal to hundreds of sales transcripts, dozens of 100+ page documents, or 200,000 lines of code

Next on the list, the enterprise plan incorporates the new artifacts feature recently launched by Anthropic. With artifacts, Claude will create and display the fully formatted results of your request in real-time and side-by-side with your conversation. This capability can help you more easily visualize and work with web pages, computer code, flowcharts, and other types of content.

Another useful feature in the enterprise plan is GitHub Integration. Here, Claude AI will be able to directly view and access any code and projects you maintain on GitHub. This means you can tap directly into the chatbot for help with your programming tasks.

The Claude enterprise plan also aims to address security, compliance, and administration concerns to manage and protect your company's sensitive data.

The plan's single sign-on (SSO) and domain capture lets your IT admins manage user access and provisioning control. This helps ensure that only the right user accounts have the required permissions to access any confidential data generated through Claude.

A role-based access setup allows you to fine-tune your permissions. For example, you could select a primary owner for each Claude workspace to manage information and security.

Audit logs let you trace system activities with Claude to make sure that you're reaching your security and compliance goals. The logs will be available to customers in the coming weeks.

Finally, the enterprise plan offers a System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) to automate data permissions for each user. SCIM will also launch in the coming weeks.

Many generative AI systems seem geared more toward individuals than large enterprises. But some plans do try to capture the business market. For instance, OpenAI offers a ChatGPT Enterprise plan. In general, such plans provide a more powerful version of their respective AIs along with security and administrative tools. The overarching goal behind these plans is to help foster the use of AI across different job functions.

To show how Claude AI can be used throughout a typical large business, Anthropic cited several examples:

  • Marketing. Here, Claude could analyze huge amounts of market data and consumer behavior to find emerging trends and develop more targeted marketing campaigns.

  • Engineering. Claude can convert project requirements into technical specifications to help engineering teams create more accurate system architectures.

  • Sales. To help sales teams, Claude could analyze recorded sales calls to look for patterns in successful pitches.

  • Product Management. Here, Claude would be able to process a large amount of user feedback to help product managers identify areas for future development.

  • Human Resources. In this area, Claude could create specific job descriptions and employee development plans by analyzing performance data, career goals, and retention strategies.

  • Legal. For the legal department, Claude could summarize complex legal documents, pick out key clauses and potential risks, and draft standardized legal templates.

The Claude enterprise plan has already been in use among early adopters who have been testing its effectiveness across the board.

"Early customers have used Claude Enterprise across a variety of tasks and stages of work," Anthropic said, "from brainstorming to streamlining internal processes to creating and translating content to writing code."
